For communion everyone gets a minature cupcake and Huggie drink, then yell "Sweet Jesus!" No one has discussed costumes of the leaders. I think they should wear silky bathrobes and some sort of hat, female leaders get to wear a tiara.

Well now I'm just angry
by lola28 ini just read blondies wt review and it made me angry.
how can the society continue to place more importance on pioneering than getting an education or getting a good job?
why do these men insist on making young ones (and even older members) feel bad for wanting to have a secure future, what the hell is wrong with not wanting to live in a tent?
-

I pioneered for almost 5 years out of highschool. II had no idea what I was doing, no plans for the future. I went to all those conventions and let them drill their crap into my head about pioneering as a career. I knew that I did not want to live with my parents for the rest of my life. (Although it seemed like thats what they wanted, goofballs) But how could I afford to live on my own working 3 days a week for $7-8 an hour? Meanwhile the elders who pushed me to do more had great jobs, fancy new trucks, every toy they wanted and could never go out in service because they were too tired.

I really feel for you. JW's are experts on creating uncomfortable situatuations. They make you feel like an absolute jerk when you are the one being wronged. They act totally weird and try to guilt trip you then, try to play the victim when you aren't excited to see them. I went through pretty much the same situation with my mom, quoting Psalms (you're being selfish, you're isolating yourself, the Bible said it, not me). Everyone misses you, people call you all the time, you don't return anyone's phonecalls (I got one phone message, and I did return it). It does drive you batty. Be glad that it is only your ex-girlfriend that is hasseling you, who should know that she is someone you no longer want to be with, and not someone like a close relative who you do want to still have a relationship.

Snarf, that sounds delicious! I think I will make that this week. Here is one of my favorites. Chickpea Curry
1 Can tomatoes
1 Can Chickpeas
1/2 package mushrooms
Onion
garlic
2 Tablespoons curry powder
Sautee garlic and onion, add mushrooms, cook until soft, add drained chickpeas. Stir in curry powder and tomatoes. Heat to boiling, reduce to simmer until sauce is thickened. Server over rice.

Why label it a cult?
by rebel8 inwhat purpose does it serve?
it just seems to polarize people and ostracize those who aren't ready or willing to label it a cult.
anyone can look up the dictionary definition of a cult (or experts' definitions).

The general public doesn't know much about cults or much about JWs. Cult members are suicidial, murders or robots. JW's are those people that knock on my door and don't bellieve in Jesus. So I think using the term "cult" is counterproductive. Using it makes you sound crazy, like you are over exagerating or being too dramatic. I do believe that JW's are a cult. But the term is off-putting to the uninformed.

At The Peak Of Your JW Spirituality, Did You Ever Not Believe Something ?
by minimus inat your most "spiritual", did you believe everything that was taught----even if you didn't quite understand it all?

One prophecy in Daniel chapter 8, I think, was fulfilled by two watchtower articles. The number of days between the publication dates was the same number of days relating to two events in the prophecy. Does anybody else remember this? I thought that was absolutely rediculous. I didn't believe that 144,000 was a literal number. I also thought the title "Revelation - Its Grand Climax at Hand" was rather misleading. The bowls of wrath were something that some dumb guy said. Yeah, that's exciting.

Which JWD posters have Secret Superpowers???
by Kudra indon't worry you can tell us here- no one knows your true identity.
i can make vodka out of water.
and wine out of water, though vodka out of water is a little more in demand in certain circles.

Paralipomenon, I don't think posessing a weiner qualifies as a superpower. Sorry, just my opinion.

Positive changes in your life since leaving WBTS
by Mrs Smith infor me it's the friendships i have made with people that would have been considered too wordly to be friends with while i was still a jw.
leaving behind the guilt of never been good enough or doing enough.
celebrating the birthday of my precious children making them feel like king and queen for the day.

My mind has started working again. When I really got serious about being a JW the world had lost all its mystery. All the answers could be found in a 32 page brochure or 192 page book. I had nothing to ponder. It was very unsatisfying.

Update! Drew Sagan is no longer a Jehovah's Witness
by drew sagan inas promised here is all of the info regarding what has been going on.
per the last jc with the elders i realized that all i had done was buy time.
they felt that we should be df'ed right on the spot, but because i made a plea to wait for a letter coming back from the wts they decided to hold on taking such action.

I am glad, for the most part, to be out. Freedom. The thing that troubles me the most is that my sister bears the brunt of punishment. She will feel awful about having to cut me off. We weren't super close but, still. My mom has to deal with what she has done (ratting me out to the elders for joining the Y) on her own. Maybe my dad will finally be forced to look at what he is dealing with - a cult. As for me, I won. I can choose for myself what is right and wrong.
All three elders has had a close family member that was or is Df'd. Two of them were reluctant to vote for DF because they know it doesn't work. They just didn't know what else to do. I guess being an elder eventually causes one's balls to shrivel up and fall off.
